Gemini F&Q

gemini FAQ

A: The following will only work if the brew head safety door is open: Remove the used capsule tray located under the problem brew head. Reach your hand inside in an upward position and curl your finger around and feel for the trigger. Once you find it pull it down and release. You may have to try this a few times. You can also try to remove a stuck capsule with pliers or tweezers by using them to pull the capsule from the capsule slot if the safety door is open.

DO NOT force the safety door open. If the capsule does not easily come out, don’t force it.

DO NOT stick your fingers inside the brew head. Phone Nespresso for service at 1-855-325-5783.

  • Make sure the milk canister is in place.
  • Push the milk button and let it run until it stops.
  • Remove the nozzle body (this is black and red piece connected to the milk froth outlet above the milk container). Remove any dried milk found with a paper clip or any similar item.

  • Make sure the straw has a snug fit onto the nozzle and is not cracked.
  • Make sure your milk container is full.
  • Make sure the straw is inserted all the way down into the milk container.

A: Have you ran the containers through a dishwasher? The containers are a double wall thermos and the heat from a dishwasher will ruin them. One way to test is to fill the container with hot water and let it sit on the counter for 5 minutes. If you feel the outside of the container start to get hot, the container is no good and should be replaced. Phone Nespresso at 1-855-325-5783 to order a new one.

A: Your Gemini operates on 240 volts. If 240 volts is not available which is the case for most offices, a Transformer (plugs into 120 volts) or Booster (plugs into 208 volts) will be needed. All are available through your local Territory Manager.

A: This is normal. The top is a cup heater and it gets warm from the heat the machine gives off. It can not be turned off.

A: This is a general error message meaning it could be caused for any number of reasons.

Things to check:

  • If the machine is plumbed into the water supply, make sure the water supply valve is turned on (usually located under a sink).
  • Make sure the valve at the back of the machine is in the correct position . The valve should be vertical if not plumbed in and horizontal if plumbed in.
  • Make sure the magnets are installed in the water tanks.
  • If the machine is connected to a water line and is turned on while the water tanks are empty, the “machine blocked” message might appear. The solution is to turn the power off at the back of the machine (located just above the power cable) and leave it off for about 10 seconds. Turn the power back on at the back and front of the machine. The machine should continue to fill and stop at the correct level.
  • There is a sensor located just above the used capsule trays. Remove the used capsule trays and clean the sensor.
  • If your machine has had the message “Descaling Needed” for a long period of time, the “machine blocked” message will appear.
  • Try descaling the machine.
  • If all fixes have been tried, contact Nespresso at 1-855-325-5783.
